DVD, Books, and NASA.

June 3rd, 2008 by APK

Spaced: The Complete Series is now up for pre-order at Amazon.com for 42 bucks, down from the list price of $60 which is pretty cool. It’ll be released on July 22nd. Spaced! Region 1! At last!

—————————

I also got, from Dom, a wonderful gift recently. The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Short Stories. It’s a two volume set and the annotations are wonderful. They keep up the gentle fiction that Holmes and Watson are real and keep the tone of them light and tongue-in-cheek while still delivering good information and pointing out inconsistencies (and amusing with the reasons they suggest for them). If you like Holmes at all these are a must have (there is a third volume with the novels) and if you don’t know Holmes these are a good way to read them. I have book love.

NASA makes video using sound waves and animation to show magnetic fields. Sound controlled CGI and 3D composing? Yeah, NASA had some fun with this.

That’s CAPTAIN Kirk to you.

I made this because it’s true. You want to know how to defeat God? You ask this man for help, you put him in front of some rocks and you get his shirt off. Then your puny God will know fear.

HELLO KITTY ZOMG!

May 21st, 2008 by APK

(via The AP) Hello Kitty is named Japan tourism ambassador

TOKYO (AP) — Hello Kitty — Japan’s ubiquitous ambassador of cute — has built up an impressive resume over the years. Global marketing phenom. Fashion diva. Pop culture icon. Now the moonfaced feline can add “government envoy” to the list. The tourism ministry on Monday named Hello Kitty as its choice to represent the country in China and Hong Kong, two places where she is wildly popular among kids and young women.
—————–
Ok whatever. But then let us go to the last two paragraphs and study them:
—————–
A multi-million-dollar musical featuring Hello Kitty opened earlier this year in Beijing and is in the midst of a national tour. “Hello Kitty’s Dream Light Fantasy” is then scheduled to travel to Malaysia, Singapore and the U.S. over its three-year run.

According to her official profile from Sanrio, Hello Kitty lives with her family in London. It does not mention how often she visits Japan.
—————–
Hello Kitty doesn’t even live in Japan! How fucked up is that? I say it is very fucked up.

But fuck all that! FUCK IT!

HELLO!

KITTY!

MUSICAL!

Who’s going with me? Raise your hand. I am so there! She has no mouth! I wanna see how she sings! Maybe Badtz Maru has a solo!

HELLO KITTY MUSICAL: “Hello Kitty’s Dream Light Fantasy”

Jesus fuck sticks from the Gorton fisherman I NEED TO SEE THIS! Who’s in!?

So there is a new video game out. Wii Deca-Sports. It has CURLING. Yes, really.

That was the 2006 Olympic Curling final. This video game has kick-ass Curling action! NON-STOP CURLING EXCITEMENT!

Think of it! With the Wii remote you can prolly throw the big stupid weight thing or work a god damn brush and sweep the ice! You could possibly do either amazing skill from the comfort of your own home.

CURLING! From the people that brought you THE LOONEY AND TWONEY! It’s CURLING! Here have a video of Jennifer Jones winning the Canadian Curling championships in 2008:

Shit, I hope Hammerpants buys this game! I wanna CURL! I WANNA CURL SO BAD! I WANNA BE THE JAMES BROWN OF CURLING! Fuck! Fuck yes! Fuck! CURLING!

Stuff from all over

May 2nd, 2008 by APK

I will not be around during the day next week as I have Jury Duty. Sorry about that. It isn’t that I mind doing my civic duty, I don’t, but I am just not in the mood and don’t have time and argh!

———————————

I have been playing Mario Kart on the Wii, over at Hammerpants’ place. I do not own a Wii, so I must go to other places to enjoy it. The character I am the best with? Princess. On her normal dirt bike. Which says something I am sure. Also I have noticed that the outfit she wears looks kinda like she’s a member of Voltron.

I noticed this and pointed it out. At which point I decided that she forms the appendix. We’re sorry, Princess, but your purpose in life is in another castle…

———————————

I spent a bunch of time last night fixing Trista’s computer last night. Brought it back to life. So if you see her on the intardwebs it is, officially now, my fault. Not that whatever she does is my fault, oh no she doesn’t get a big blank check like that.

———————————

And then there is today’s XKCD which is so sadly true.

———————————

More later when I can think.

Bringing home things from the wilds of the Internets.

Here is a site that is simply a collection of bad Spock drawings.

Toilets of the World is a book by Morna E. Gregory and Sian James. It’s a travel guide and, I suppose resource for people who want to know what toilets in other places are like.
————
Here is a video compilation of 231 fatalities from various Mortal Kombat games. Why? Because it’s kinda funny.

————

Best item on Think Geek yet? It’s an Invincible Star from Mario. Touch it and it plays the invincible music for 17 seconds. After which you are once again only mortal. I… I need one.
————
I leave you with one of the best ideas I’ve seen in a while. I need to do this. So do you:
