Directions and sources of light.

Last night, on the way back from a meeting things got interesting. I don’t drive, of course, so the ever-helpful and wonderful to just hang out with Mr. Wendell rented a car for the evening.
We left the meeting and I asked if, possibly, we could stop somewhere so I could buy a lamp. Remember the lamp? Right. So we found a Target and I grabbed the first lamp I saw that was of the right shape. $14.09 later I had a lamp in a plastic bag gripped tightly in hand as we walked back to the car.
Now, we were out in Westchester and heading back to Manhattan, by way of the Bronx. That’s how it works. And somewhere in there, while he was on the pone with his boss, I told him what road to take and what exit to get off at to get my home and drop me off with ease. It was all so simple.
Except he misheard me. So he started off some side road and turned and drove around and… I had no clue where he was going.
Please remember - he was on the phone. With his boss. So I didn’t want to be an annoyance. I sat back and figured he knew where he was headed.
See that’s the problem when you’re a non-driver: sometimes you assume everyone else knows where they’re headed, just because they can drive.
Eventually we realized the problem, corrected, looped and only ended up going about 45 minutes and 100 blocks out of our way.
On the other hand? I have a lamp. It’s wood. It turns on and off and when used with an attached bulb, provides light.
