Recursion shot first!
July 23rd, 2007 by APK
There is a picture with this post. In this picture (taken from comics101.com and then trimmed a bunch to remove everything else from possible focus) is a man.
The man in this picture is George Lucas.
George Lucas is wearing a t-shirt.
It is a Han Shot First t-shirt.
George Lucas is wearing a Han Shot First t-shirt.
Is that the sound of the universe opening a tear and sucking itself into a horrible infinite loop? It might be. The rest of the photo, for the record, shows Lucas talking to Harrison Ford who is in Indy garb. Which, I grant you is even funnier in some ways.
Because then, you see, George Lucas is wearing a Han Shot First t-shirt while talking to Han Solo. All right, actually, here is that as well.
Lucas talking to Han Solo while wearing a Han Shot First t-shirt. The recursion is mind-boggling.
** Shot through the heart…

** Wrist Watch
** He lighted on fire!

We just talked about this on our Star Wars podcast, Imperial Holonet Radio at ihnradio.com.
July 24th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
So, then, is this the first shot of Lucas talking to Han while wearing a Han Shot First shirt? How many shots at this Han Shot First shot were missed before they shot Han?
Han Shot First post.

freak. hack.

What about George Lucas wearing a Han Shot First t-shirt, talking to Han Solo dressed as Indiana Jones?
July 24th, 2007 at 5:58 pm
So I gotta ask, where are you guys coming from? Welcome, one and all, but it is a sudden surge in comments.
July 24th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
This is on the front page on reddit.
July 24th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Ah ha! Thank you! Wow, who knew. Anyway, enjoy! Stay a second, look around. Try the wine.
July 24th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Lucas’s t-shirt should read “I ruined Star Wars and all I got was this lousy t-shirt and a billion dollars.”
July 25th, 2007 at 12:15 am
‘Recursion’ does not mean what you think it means.
July 25th, 2007 at 1:31 am
I’m confused. Why is a shirt the cause of so much fuss?
July 25th, 2007 at 3:41 am
George Lucas is invincible. Harrison Ford is a healthy young man.
July 25th, 2007 at 9:06 am
I don’t get it….
July 25th, 2007 at 9:24 am
Here from Digg.com
Pretty awesome I have to say. I can feel the very fabric of time and space tearing into trillions upon trillions upon trillions of little atoms. Heavy stuff. :)
July 25th, 2007 at 9:42 am
You’ve been Dugg.
Enjoy the Bandwith spike ;)
July 25th, 2007 at 10:40 am
That was some annoying sentence structuring.
July 25th, 2007 at 10:41 am
Now if he only wore an “Stop-motion 4 Eva” t-shirt I’d be happy.

What’s to get? Geeks think it’s funny that the guy who created Star Wars, thus also having created Han Solo, was wearing a t-shirt referencing Han Solo while talking to the man who played the character Han Solo in the movie.
It’s an inside joke that many people get. It’s hillarious really.
It’s like when a guy named ‘George’ was a guest on the Colbert Report for having made a video spoof using Stephen Colbert’s own footage of himself doing lightsaber moves. ‘George’ being George Lucas - the man who created the lightsaber in the first place! Ha!
July 25th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
It’s funny because George is the guy who altered his own movies to make Han NOT shoot first. Meh didn’t seem to get it.
July 25th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
So you did not see when he was wearing the “Luke Got Leia First” shirt?
July 25th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
i feel SO good for not getting this..
July 25th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
For those that don’t get it, the manipulation of classic films by their own creators has been a pretty common topic for several years now. This isn’t really geek speak. Well, maybe it’s film geek speak. But c’mon, people take part in your culture! How would you feel if Caddyshack was changed so there were no high explosives or mention of “greasy grimy gopher guts?”
July 25th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
Hilarious and yet frightening at the same time.
July 25th, 2007 at 4:37 pm
A nerd meets George Lucas and says “oh man I used to love those Star Wars movies” and George Lucas replied “what changed?” and the nerd says “the films did”.

July 25th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
“Lucas talking to Han Solo while wearing a Han Shot First t-shirt.”
Something inside of my head just **blinked** out of existence when you said that.
July 25th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
that t-shirt graphic is too sharp compared to George’s face (check the lack of beard and hair detail). I smell Photoshop.
July 25th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
This item is only up here because this is San Diego Comic Con convention week(with that very weekend coming up),otherwise this most revealing news(that Geroge Lucas suggestively admits that Han Solo actually did shoot first) is very irrelevant to me.

I don’t undestand why this commotion around this matter, as it is quite simple: Greedo clearly fired first.
Han was drunk and he’s a mess of a fighter, so there’s no reason why Greedo shouldn’t have the upper hand.
Han got luck. Drunk luck.

If a miniscule change in a 30 year old movie (a 30 year old movie) about fictional (as in, do not now or have ever existed) people, in a fictional time, at a fictional place, with made-up (see fictional) equipment, can crank your horn, I wonder what would happen if you ever watched the evening news with the same amount of concern.
Too funny.
