Fezzik, post-op, with pictures.

March 8th, 2007 by APK

So I went to visit the lump after work. They took me downstairs to where he was, in a big ol’ cage sitting there with his back to the room. He likes to do that when he sulks. He has to make sure you can see that he has his back to you. Otherwise it has no effect.

“Hmph, I’ve had a long day, fuck off.”

So I scritched him and petted him and made the whole list of familiar noises at him. He was just grumping. I understood, really. But still, he was just ignoring me. So I kept at it. Eventually he looked over his shoulder.

“Oh, it’s you? You may attend me”

The fronts of his front legs are shaved for ease of use regarding intravenous stuff. He’s on a no food or water kick for a day or two, just eating liquids through tubes. Yeah, you can imagine that has the fat bastard thrilled. Also his stomach is freshly shaved and coated in iodine. So it’s bright yellow/orange. Dignity and this cat aren’t even on speaking terms anymore.

I mean I expected a cone maybe, or some bandages, and there might have been bandages on his stomach, I just didn’t see them because he was sitting on it, mostly.

So after a few minutes of love and attention he stood up slowly, stiffly but happily, and walked closer to me before sitting back down and sticking his head out so I could go back to attending.

“Proceed, human.”

You can see one shaved patch there. They said I could visit him tomorrow again but they close early so I won’t have time. However he should come home with me on Saturday so that’s all right, too.

I stood around and talked to one of the doctors for a bit, this and that and about Fezzik some. He seems to be a great patient, they were very happy with how fast he woke up and is already moving around and seems comfortable mostly. But after a bit I had to leave, you know?

“Did I say you could stop? Hmph.”

So I stalled a bit, they weren’t rushing me but I was also obviously holding them up from helping other people and I didn’t want to do that, so I stood around talking a few more minutes while just scratching his head. Then he got bored.

“I need a nap now, human. Begone for the present!”

So I left and my apartment is very quiet and empty right now. But that’s only for a day or two. That’s fine. This weekend the lump will come back with me and proceed to boss me around like normal.
